Throwback: Some Old 3D Animation Practice

Since none of the projects I'm working on right now can be shown publicly, I'm digging up some old practice animations from my time at my previous company (Legend Network) to fill the gap~

Probably not a lot of people know I used to do 3D animation for games. A lot of my 2D motion chops actually carried over from that 3D foundation — there's still plenty I'm not totally used to, but I figure I'll get the hang of it the longer I keep at this~

Like this animation right here — it's actually a sample I made back when I was working on the Lazy Kitty GIF. I roughed out the motion in 3D first as a blocking pass, then brought it into 2D, which made everything way more precise (even though I still ended up tweaking the timing at the end)! Makes the rhythm cuter too~

It was just a sample so I got kind of lazy with the fine details, but doing a whole 3D pass just to make a 2D GIF is honestly overkill lol🤣🤣🤣🤣

Finally found a new way to fill the gap between posts !!! Will share more when I get the chance ~
