A Week in Taiwan, by Red Soda

Had to fly back to Taiwan on short notice this week to sort out some admin stuff.

Hadn't been back in three years, 😋

so of course I had to eat and drink my way through all my favorite Taiwanese food 😋

But honestly, the biggest takeaway from this trip was

just how much prices have shot up 😂

A meal out used to cost under NT$100,

now a random meal somehow runs NT$150 to 200,

and ordering a few braised items at a lu-wei stand casually blew past NT$300...

It's not just food either — everyday goods are basically at Japan-level prices now,

some things are even pricier...

Prices here are genuinely giving Japan a run for its money,

but average wages clearly haven't caught up to match?

There are probably a bunch of reasons behind it,

but I really hope something gets done about it ☹
